CONTENT CREATORS, MUSIC RIGHTS HOLDERS TO EARN MONEY VIA META’S MUSIC REVENUE SHARING
Meta is introducing Music Revenue Sharing as a new
feature to give creators the ability to monetize their videos with licensed
music.
In a statement, the feature gives the opportunity to
creators of content and music rights holders “a new way to earn money from the
videos on Facebook.”
The feature will be powered by Rights Manager, a
Facebook tool developed to aid in rights protection for “content owners” while
allowing for content management.
Furthermore, eligibility is granted to creators with
in-stream ads (ads before, mid, or after content) available in their content as
well as meet their monetization eligibility standards. Other requirements such
as video length, and song eligibility among others apply.
“With Music Revenue Sharing, whenever a creator uses
licensed music in their videos on Facebook that are 60 seconds or longer, they
can earn money on certain videos through in-stream ads, with a share of revenue
going back to the music rights holders…With video making up half of the time
spent on Facebook, Music Revenue Sharing helps creators access more popular
music, deepening relationships with their fans — and the music industry.”
The statement also details that creators will receive
20 percent of revenue, with varied percentages going to music right holders and
Meta. The move by Meta, in the long run, is to “help bring
creators and the music industry closer together, leading to more authentic
connections with fans.”
