IBM ADDS OCTO TO BOLSTER TECHNOLOGY NEEDS
IBM is set to acquire IT service provider, Octo, to continue serving the technological needs of the federal government of the United States.
Octo works to facilitate technological transformations in
various sectors in the U.S. Thus, IBM’s acquisition brings on board the 1,500
personnel from Octo to serve in the public and federal market organization at
IBM. IBM has noticed certain ‘technology-linked’ issues affecting agencies.
Their solution is for the government to team up with a key industry player that
effectively combine modern technologies to improve operations.
Also, IBM adds that its acquisition of Octo will
strengthen “IT modernization and digital transformation” to support in
diversifying the approach federal agencies use in engagements while increasing
personnel in its public and federal market organization.
“Governments
require agility and resiliency to meet the evolving needs of citizens directly
and in real time…The combination of Octo's highly qualified and respected team
with IBM's consulting expertise, technical capabilities and strategic partner
ecosystem will enable federal clients to transform faster and better serve
citizens,” says Senior Vice President of IBM Consulting, John
Granger.
Octo will become the eighth addition to its fold aside
companies such as Dialexa, Nuedesic, Taos and suchlike. This will further its
“hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence (AI)” competencies.
Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) of Octo, Mehul Sanghani, says:
“Octo was founded on the belief that digital transformation could be delivered
at scale to modernize the federal government's approach to today's most
pressing challenges – from public healthcare to national security, to defense
and intelligence…Today, we are excited to join forces with IBM to continue to
deliver these digital transformation capabilities with greater reach and scale.”
