VITTORIO COLAO REJOINS VERIZON COMMUNICATIONS BOARD

Technology and communication service provider, Verizon, has selected former Vodafone Group executive, Vittorio Colao to be a part of the Board of Directors. This comes after his previous stint on the same board between 2019 and 2021.

According to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Verizon, Hans Vestberg, the expertise and experience garnered by Mr. Colao makes him a pivotal addition to the Verizon board. His successes and commitment to growth also forms part of decision to re-enlist his services toward the company’s 5G execution strategy.

“We are thrilled to have Vittorio rejoin our Board as we execute our 5G strategy. He is an outstanding leader who brings to Verizon a wealth of telecommunications expertise. He built and transformed Vodafone through organic growth, acquisitions and sales into one of the world’s largest communications companies with mobile operations in 24 countries and partnerships in over 40 more countries. With his deep understanding of the wireless industry, successful tenure as CEO, and government experience, he will strengthen the expertise of the Board and be a tremendous asset to Verizon,” he said.

Vittorio Colao was a role player in Italian governance as the Minister in charge of Innovation, Digital Transition and Space between February 2021 and October 2022. Within the period, he set ground for the implementation of 5G and broadband in Italy. He has also assumed notable positions in companies such as Unilever (2015-2021), Vodafone (2006-2018), and RCS Media Group (2004-2006) among others.

He also graduated with a business degree from Università Commerciale ‘Luigi Bocconi’ and a master’s degree in business from Harvard Business School.
