CAL.NET EXPANDS NETWORK REACH IN RURAL AREAS IN CALIFORNIA
This expansion will ensure customers are given faster
internet connections and speeds with no contracts. They plan to install more
towers within these regions and combine them with their advanced network
technology to achieve this objective. Cal.net
noticed that about 70 percent of the “most rural counties” were lacking in
access to quality, quick internet service. Thus, they seek to help close the
digital divide gap by investing into this project to assist in exploring
various “educational and career opportunities” among other services provided.
“At
Cal.net, we are committed to serving students, families, and businesses by
providing quality Internet as affordable as possible to our community, even the
hard to reach,” says Chief Technology Officer, Josh Rogers.
The
company issued a release in October concerning this project. They sought to add
up over 18,000 homes in Allendale and Vacaville region of California to their
growing, up-to-date network coverage. This ensured a delivery of quality
internet and furthering customer reach.
“To
further close the digital divide, Cal.net is a participant in the Affordable
Connectivity Program (ACP) which provides low-income households with discounted
monthly internet service, as well as discounts on laptops, tablets and desktop computers.
Customers can learn more about the Affordable Connectivity Program by visiting [their website] to determine if they qualify. The program offers
up to a $30/month discount on
internet and up to a $75/month discount on
qualifying tribal lands,” concludes the statement.
