EQUINIX EXPANDS INTO INDONESIA; AFFIRMS POSITION TO POSITIVELY IMPACT BUSINESSES

Digital infrastructure firm, Equinix, has expanded its reach to Indonesia in efforts to answer to demands for digital technology that will positively impact businesses.

The company says they plan to establish a $74 million International Business Exchange (IBX) center in Jakarta, the country’s capital, in line with the expansion. This will be beneficial to companies within and without the country as they are able to power their businesses via Equinix’s platform.

Indonesia has been identified as a growing hub for digital advancements, especially in businesses. Popular tech companies with cloud service provisions (Google, Amazon etc.) have focused their establishments in the country, making them penultimate in the cloud market in Southeast Asia.

“These trends collectively raise the need for increased digital services and data center services capacity in Indonesia.”, a press release has stated.

President of Equinix in the Asia-Pacific region, Jeremy Deutsch, has highlighted the importance of their expansion into the Indonesian market and the various growth opportunities for businesses.

“Our IBX data center in Jakarta will add a strategically important, high-growth market to Equinix's extensive network of interconnected data centers across the world. Having a presence in Indonesia allows Equinix to provide digital infrastructure that enables local businesses to tap growth opportunities abroad and support global organizations looking to access the expanding Indonesian digital economy. We look forward to working closely with local authorities, network providers and the broader industry ecosystem players to help unleash Indonesia's digital potential.” He further stated.

Furthermore, they have stated that an establishment will be completed by the second half of 2024 in Jakarta’s central business district, where major business exchanges are situated among other inputs.
