ACCENTURE AIDS IN SWISSCOM’S ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AMBITIONS
In a collaborative effort, a Telecommunications firm, Accenture, has partnered with Swisscom to lessen, and possibly curb, the company’s emissions, and that of their customers, by one million tons by 2025. This is equal to cutting down 2 percent of Switzerland’s total greenhouse gas emissions.
With this action and per their new sustainability goals,
Swisscom looks forward to quickly achieving a balance between emissions and aiding
in a carbon-free planet. Accenture assisted Swisscom to integrate the emerging
Scope 4 as part of the latter’s strategy to “enable its customers to avoid or reduce
emissions.”
Head
of Sustainable Digitization for Swisscom, Res Witschi, reaffirmed the company
prioritizes the wellbeing of individuals and the environment, thus their
sustainability measures.
“With
Accenture’s industry knowledge and decarbonization insights, we raised our
climate target and continue to be a sustainability leader in the telco space.”, he
added.
Moreover, Accenture also assisted in considering
technological insertions such as “AI-driven analytics,
cloud, and 5G and IoT” that could best support their cause. This
could help Swisscom to tackle environmental issues, and perhaps, improve them
financially.
“Technology is a critical driver for improving
sustainability, helping to accelerate transitions to net zero, build
sustainable organizations, embrace responsible value chains, and provide
sustainable choices for customers,” said Stephan Schneider, managing director
at Accenture.
“Swisscom is positively impacting the planet by combining
technology solutions to enable a reduction across their emissions while also
driving business value. The company can boost its business by offering
customers a larger number of green products and services to choose from to
reduce their emissions.”
It is Swisscom’s goal to help reduce as many greenhouse gas
emissions as practicable and to have others do the same for a more sustainable
planet and business.
